The Presbytery of South Dakota is currently training nine men and women to become Commissioned Ruling Elders. The sessions include topics such as pastoral visitation, preaching, spiritual disciplines and prayer, and polity and administration.
The class of 2020 began meeting in September at Lake Gospel Church in Willow Lake and are half-way through the curriculum. The candidates come from Sioux Falls, Brookings, Huron and Willow Lake.
Every all-day meeting is jam-packed with reading, discussion, and socializing. A huge thank you goes out to the members of the church, who provide a hot lunch, a morning and afternoon snack, and of course, coffee, tea and water all day long.
The last session is scheduled for May with the commissioning ceremony to be held during the June Presbytery meeting.
