As clerks of session you may often be forced into the role as “gate keeper”, but that goes against the historical role of clerk.  The primary role of a clerk is to record a congregation’s history, not to dictate its future.  For this reason, it is always helpful to reframe our role as clerk and to view ourselves as spiritual leaders within the church, leaders that help a ministry move forward rather than behind.  To help in this endeavor I have started working on a new page under our Clerk’s Resources page called Becoming the Voice of “Yes”.  I would love to hear what you think and to get your insights on how we can make this page, and the others provided for clerks, even better.
